Overcoming Failure

“Failure is the opportunity to begin again more intelligently.” Henry Ford

“Many of life’s failures are men who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” Anonymous

How you look at and accept failure says a lot about you as a person. We are all subject to failure at some point, because this is how we learn. Unfortunately, not everyone was taught that failure can be a learning process and a good thing. Most of us only see the negative of it, “you failed, thus you are a failure.” How do you look at your failures in life? When you fail at something are you the failure, or do you see an opportunity to learn something new and beneficial? In my opinion, we are never failures except when we don’t learn from our previous mistakes.

  1. While I may fail to get something done that I planned on, etc., I myself am NEVER a failure. I am one of God’s children and he doesn’t make junk. I like to look at ‘failures’ as a positive thing and something I can learn from. If a person contacts 10 people and it isn’t until the 10th that they get a ‘yes’ then each failure or ‘no’ is just one closer to a ‘yes.’ That makes those other 9 successes. We taught our daughter to never give up or quit, because then she would fail to reach her goal. As an All-American Basketball player she has encouraged this in others by saying “When I fell down, I knew the best thing I could do was get back up and keep perservering.’ Now despite those falls or failure points - I am a success. Focus on that attitude rather than a negative one and you will excel.
