The Joy of Yielding and Dreaming

“I feel nothing but the accursed happiness I have dreaded all my life long: the happiness that comes as life goes, the happiness of yielding and dreaming instead of resisting and doing, the sweetness of the fruit that is going rotten.” George Bernand Shaw

I am not going to add my usual commentary here as I think this quote means different things to different people.

Taking Risks

And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. — Anais Nin

This is my favorite quote. Many times, we are living with a situation that we say we want to change. We can see the vision of what we want things to be like, but we just can’t take the steps to change. Why is that?

It becomes really comfortable here in our comfort zone - we know what to expect, we know who everyone is and how to interact with them, we know our routine, etc…

When we begin to take steps toward our vision, things change. And, it is this change that is the REAL issue.

But - there comes a point, where it becomes more painful to stay in the comfort zone rather than accept and open up to the change that will come with the steps we take toward our vision.

What areas are you resting comfortably in your comfort zone? Where do you want change - and what are you doing to keep things the same? What would happen if you started taking small steps toward your vision?

Let Creativity Flow

An idea not coupled with action will never get any bigger than the brain cell it occupied.
Arnold Glascow

Any activity becomes creative when the doer cares about doing it right, or doing it better.
John Updike

How many times have you had an idea and then just dismissed it or not done a thing about it? Or maybe you entended to do something at some point but never did? Or worse you had an idea and didn’t act on it so someone else did a profited from it and you could just kick yourself? If you want to see your ideas come into fruition, then action must be taken immediately. Stop procrastinating and get to work.

Today we will have an added surprise. Our own Lael Johnson of will be a quest speaker on Creativity. Lael is a creativity coach, writer and beader. You can find her at writerseye.com

Trust

You may be deceived if you trust too much, but you will live in torment if you do not trust enough.
Frank Crane

The chief lesson I have learned in a long life is that the only way to make a man trustworthy is to trust him; and the surest way to make him untrustworthy is to distrust him and show your distrust.
Henry L. Stimson

There are people I know who won’t hurt me. I call them corpses.
Randy K. Milholland

When I’m trusting and being myself… everything in my life reflects this by falling into place easily, often miraculously.
Shakti Gawain

Is it harder to trust yourself or other people? Is it ok to breach someone’s trust when you believe it is in their best interest to do so? Do you feel safe or vunerable when you put your trust in someone? Are you too trusting or overly wary? Do you consider yourself trustworthy?

Begin to Heal

Have you ever been hurt and the place tries to heal a bit, and you just pull the scar off of it over and over again. ~Rosa Parks

I think we all have been hurt throughout our lives. It seems like it hurts the worse when it is someone whom we felt an alliance with. The important thing when we get hurt is how we handle it. Sometimes we can get very selfish and make it all about us while other times we keep pulling back the healing and reopening the wound.

Make a point from this day forward to watch how you handle your emotional wounds and allow them to heal. Yes, sometimes you may still end up with a scar, but that is to remind you that you went through this thing, not to reopen the wound and cause more pain.

Count the garden by the flowers, never by the leaves that fall. Count your life with smiles and not the tears that roll. ~Author Unknown
